Personal Assistant / Support Worker – Disabled Child

Fun, Friendly PA Needed for Awesome 10-Year-Old Boy

We’re looking for a kind, reliable and fun-loving Personal Assistant to support our 10-year-old son, Eddie. Male or female applicants welcome. This role is all about helping Eddie have a great time while keeping him safe and supported.
Pay: £12.71 p/h. Drivers preferred – mileage paid at 50p per mile.
Hours available:
Up to 7 hours a week during term time
Up to 11 hours a week during school holidays

We’re happy to consider job shares if you can’t do all the hours.

Hours we’re keen to fill straight away:
One afternoon a week during term time – school pick-up followed by a fun activity (for example swimming, dinner out, Sealife Centre or the park), roughly 3pm–7pm
Saturdays, around 12pm–2/3pm

About Eddie:
Eddie has 1p36 deletion syndrome which means he is autistic and has a significant learning disability. He is fully mobile but can get tired and sometimes uses a wheelchair for day trips.
He is a happy, sociable boy who absolutely loves being out and about. He loves music, anything to do with fish, and is a huge fan of swimming and trips to the beach. He thrives on sharing his interests with people and enjoys spending time with someone who is chatty, patient and up for having fun.
He communicates using a mix of spoken words, Makaton and PECS.
Eddie will need support with personal care and managing food and drinks, so you’ll need to be comfortable with this as part of the role. Full guidance and routines will be provided.
